HONG KONG’S FIRST CULTURAL VILLA

A New Chapter in
East–West Dialogue

Connecting Cultures, Inspiring Creativity.

— A CULTURAL ICON OF HONG KONG HERITAGE

“Haw Par Mansion”, built in 1937 by the founder of the Tiger Balm empire is now a Grade 1 historical building, standing proudly the test of time in Hong Kong. The mansion is infused with history and cultural references, which makes it absolutely unique and significant.

With unique features of Anglo-Chinese architecture, the mansion is a testament to the rich culture of the city, its blend of Eastern and Western influences, and the inspiring life of those who built it. Formerly at the heart of the mansion was the “Gardens of Heaven and Hell”, which celebrated Chinese virtues and morals, and served as an attraction and education landmark for the Hong Kong community.

Today, the mansion is given a new life and will open its door as Villa Haw Par, managed by the Foundation for Art and Culture, as a non-profit charitable institution and trust. Its revival reflects a commitment to preserving its legacy and cultural stewardship, ensuring the mansion continues to serve as a cultural landmark for future generations.
